Is it time to go tubeless?

At BBF, we’re always looking for ways to make your ride as safe and fun as possible.

Have you ever thought about going tubeless with your tyres?

It gives you a smoother ride with more traction control, and the big win is… fewer flat tyres to slow you down.

Why Go Tubeless?

Switching to a tubeless setup can really improve your bike’s performance. Without standard rubber tubes to pinch, you can run lower tyre pressures for better traction and control, which is great on rough terrain.

Plus, a tubeless setup can often seal punctures as they happen, so you’re less likely to end up with a flat.

What You Need to Get Started

To make the switch, you’ll need to make sure your wheels and tyres are tubeless-ready.  Look for the words “tubeless ready” or the acronym TLR on your wheels and tyres.

If your current bike is not set up for tubeless tyres, it’s a simple swapover.  We just need to get you some tubeless-ready tyres and wheelsets.

Once you have that, you’re all set to make the switch. Here’s a list of what you’ll need:

  • TLR rim strips
  • TLR valves
  • TLR sealant
  • TLR pump (we have these and everything you need in-store at BBF)

You’ll also need some basic tools to remove your tyres and rim strips, but if you’re all over changing a flat tyre at home, you’ll have fun making the switch yourself.

Trek has put together a handy video showing all the steps. Check it out here.

We’re Here to Help

If that seems a bit much, just give us a call and we can make the switch for you.

Whether you’re ready to make the change or just curious to learn more, come in and see us.  We’ll walk you through everything you need to know. We can also help with the installation, or just chat about whether going tubeless is right for you.

Stay safe,

Andrew
