So you’ve done all the local trails as a family and your kids are now looking for some more challenging trails.
Here are our top tips for bike tracks for teens on the Northern Beaches and beyond;
Located near Garigal National park, JJ Melbourne Memorial Reserve lies within a 44-hectare park, surrounded by native bushland. There is a dedicated BMX Bike Track and Pump Track. This is the perfect place for teens to start honing their skills, learning to jump and generally have an awesome time!
Note: This April the BMX Bike Track is closed for upgrading, but the Pump Track is still open.
With 1.6km of downhill bike trails, flow trails, skills and dirt jump areas, a pump track, walking trails, a dedicated access road, Bare Creek Bike Park is fully equipped to allow visitors to stay for hours with toilets, water fountains, and bike maintenance stations. This park is suitable for all levels. For kids 16 and under, they must be supervised by an adult.
With 11.3 km loop around the entire Manly Dam Mountain Bike Track, there are trails for beginners to advanced riders. Take a morning or the whole day to explore the trails. Be sure to come armed with water and food to keep you going.
The single-track mountain bike trail is a combination of narrow bushland trails and flowing one-metre-wide trails. Whether you’re looking for a technical ride or simply want to release the brakes along the flow trail, you’re bound to find it. There is a green trail for beginner trail riders too.
Sydney Olympic Park also has its own dedicated Monster BMX and Mountain X Track. Located at P5 parking off Hill Road, Sydney Olympic Park, the tracks are conveniently situated side by side.
